Falafel is a deep-fried vegetarian cuisine. It is often prepared as ball, or a flat or doughnut-shaped patty. Ground chickpeasfava beans, or both are used in its preparation. Falafel can be eaten in a variety of creative and delicious ways

The word “falafel” itself refers to the fritters and sandwiches can be filled with them.

Its exact history of origin is controversial. According to some it is an Arab cuisine but some says it is Egyptian and goes back to the era of Pharos. Now it is considered as traditional Mediterranean dish and street food in Israel. Besides, it is also famous in middle eastern countries and other regions of globe.

As chickpeas and fava beans are used in its making so it is a rich source of proteins, dietary fibers, folate and minerals like iron and phosphorus and magnesium. Falafel is low in fats which contains enough carbohydrates. It is the best meatless option for vegetarians.

Chickpeas are soaked for 24 hours, their size will increase three times, ground and mixed with chopped onion, spices and herbs (mint, ginger, garlic etc). Transformed into small balls or patties. Fried in oil in which they can easily submerged. Cook until gets brown and can be filled in pita or wrapped in flatbread. Falafel can also be eaten alone as snack, or along with hummus, tahini sauce, tomato and garlic sauce. In some regions, also served as platter over the bed of rice.

As talked earlier, falafel can be eaten alone but it can also be eaten in a variety of ways.

Falafel Sandwich

Falafel sandwiches are known as the most important food of Mediterranean restaurants. For making a mouth watering sandwich, warm pita bread is stuffed with crispy falafel patties, tomato, onion and cucumber slices and drenched with nutty tahini sauce.

Falafel Burger

Another well known food with falafel as fitter is falafel burger, again very common in Mediterranean regions. Falafel patty is enclosed in burger bun seasoned with fennel, cumin, and coriander seeds. Enjoy the burger, on top of a salad, or in a lettuce wrap.

Falafel Waffles

Falafel waffles are cooked on the pattern of simple waffles, giving them a specific shape. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. An interesting thing about these are, not so much oil is required to fry them. Hummus and fresh garnishes are used for topping. These waffles can be eaten in breakfast, lunch and also in dinner.

Falafel Pizza

Pizza is something that is liked round the globe and falafel pizza is of course an amazing choice. An amazing crust of chickpea falafel, fresh herbs and spices will be a better start of falafel pizza. It can be topped with the vegetables of your choice and hummus. The finishing touch is a layer of cheesy tahini sauce that gets spread over the vegetables once they’ve roasted.

Beside all above, Falafel-Stuffed Peppers With a Coconut Dill Sauce, Falafel Burger With Avocado Sauce, Spinach, and Homemade Burger Buns, Baked Sweet Potato and Walnut Falafel are very common and healthy foods.
