Shepherd's pie for dinner

A classic family favorite for dinner or lunch, Shepherd’s Pie can be made at home with not much effort at all. Try the following recipe ensuring you use the freshest ingredients!

1kg Potato
300ml of Milk
70 grams of Butter
1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg
Salt and pepper (optional)
1kg Mince
1 large Onion
1/2 large Carrot
200 grams of Celery
70 grams of Tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon of Sugar

Peel and wash the potatoes. Put it to boil ( for better taste, add the Bay leaf to the water and add salt when the water boils).

Peel and chop the onion, grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Saute the carrots and onions in a little olive oil. Cut the celery into small cubes and add to the onion and carrot.

When the vegetables are fried add the minced meat to them and fry it until half cooked ( you can use any minced meat to your taste).

To tomato paste, add 100 ml of water, spices for stuffing and sugar ( sugar is needed to neutralize the sour taste of tomato paste).Stir until smooth.

Add the tomato sauce to the minced meat and simmer for another 20 minutes.

When the potatoes are cooked, drain, add a piece of butter and let it melt. When the butter has melted, beat the potatoes with a blender to make a puree. During grinding, add the hot milk to the creamy consistency. In ready puree add nutmeg.

Take a square baking sheet and put the meat filling on the bottom and distribute. Top with mashed potatoes and smooth. Bake at 180C for 40 minutes.
