4 Romantic Foods for Valentine’s Day

Dinner date ideas

It doesn’t seem like two minutes since it was the festive season, but that’s now in the past for another year. If that’s got you down, then worry not, because there are still plenty of holidays to look forward to. On February 14th, those of you with a romantic side will be pleased to know that it’s St Valentine’s Day. If you’re really serious about impressing that special someone in your life, forget the overpriced dinner reservations at an overrated restaurant that’s bound to be full to the brim. Instead, show off your culinary prowess and cook for your date. Here are 4 romantic foods guaranteed to succeed this Valentine’s Day.

Steak

If you really want to pull out all of the stops, why not head to your local butcher and pick up a couple of juicy steaks? A well-cooked steak dinner is guaranteed to succeed (as long as your partner eats meat) so choose your cut wisely. We recommend a thick and juicy ribeye. A steak dinner is surprisingly simple to prepare if you prep in advance, yet it tastes wonderful. For best results, serve your steak with homemade fries, a homemade sauce such as pepper or bearnaise, a mixed salad, crispy onion rings, and a grilled tomato. The key to cooking a steak is seasoning the meat well, and cooking over a high heat for a short duration. Oh, and be sure to rest the steak for at least 5 minutes.

Chocolate-dipped strawberries

Okay, this next food might be a bit of a tired cliché, but seriously, when it tastes this great, who cares? Chocolate-dipped strawberries are the perfect food for lurve. Seriously, who doesn’t love chocolate? Combine chocolate with plump, sweet, fruity, and delicious strawberries and you have the ultimate after-dinner snack perfect for munching on as you relax on the sofa and enjoy a spooning session.

Oysters

Okay, seafood may not seem like the most romantic food, but fresh oysters are in fact an aphrodisiac. Oysters are packed full of minerals, including zinc, which helps to boost testosterone. Testosterone is a sex hormone that plays a key role in libido. Primarily it increases the sex drive of men, although it can also boost a female’s libido too. To look fancy, why not serve fresh open oysters on a bed of ice with slices of fresh lemon and hot sauce, or create a crispy tempura batter, deep fry them, and serve them with a sweet chilli sauce.

Chocolate tart and cream

We’ve already mentioned chocolate when talking about chocolate-dipped strawberries, but honestly, that’s just not enough chocolate. A chocolate tart can be made in advance, and kept in the fridge overnight ready to enjoy. To make life even easier, why not go with pre-made pastry cases? Your tart can be enjoyed hot or cold, and goes especially well with pouring cream. For even better presentation, give the tart a light dusting of cocoa powder, and top with a raspberry and mint sprig.
